The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology encourages applications for a Soil Microbiome Analyst!
This position is a short term researcher to assist with analysis, writing, and publication of datasets related to soil rhizosphere micriobiome communities associated with sunflower family plants in agricultural fields. We hope to better understand how sunflower genetics and environmental conditions affect the diversity and composition of bacterial and fungal microbes in the soil surrounding sunflower roots. Our research programs have relevance for global change, conservation biology, the spread of diseases, and revealing fundamental mechanisms underlying the structural and functional adaptations of organisms.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Analysis of 16S and 18S microbiome datasets using bioinformatic pipelines, interpretation and communication of the results, submitting datasets to NCBI, collaborating with researchers at CU and NDSU, and assisting with write-up of papers related to the projects.
What We Can Offer
The hiring rate for this full-time position is $35.00 per hour.

What We Require
- PhD and research experience in micriobiome ecological genomics, particularly the microbes associated with plants, and skills related to analyzing, interpreting, and communicating these results.
- This includes bioinformatics, writing, statistics, microbial ecology.
